How to Make a DIY Red Truck 4th of July Sign

The Hobby Lobby sign that I used for this project was pretty much all white with a small design on the front of it.

I painted the entire sign, including the frame, with Folkart Java Chalk Paint. You can use whichever brown paint you already have on hand.

I set the painted sign to the side so the paint could dry. In the meantime, I worked on the welcome lettering that I bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby!

I painted the welcome lettering with navy paint. Once the brown paint was dry on the sign, I painted over it with Folkart White Chalk Paint.

Dry the white paint (I used my heat gun to speed that up), then lightly sand the surface with a sanding sponge.

Bring it all together

Hot glue the blue and white rope (another Hobby Lobby SCORE!) around the inside edges of the sign.

The next part was a little tricky for me at first. You need to remove the metal stake from the red truck with the American flag.

I needed up using a paint scraper to pry off the metal stake. Hot glue the red truck at the bottom of the sign and the welcome lettering in the center of the sign.

Paint three wooden stars red. I used Apple Barrel red paint, but again, you can use any paint that you prefer or already have on hand.

Hot glue the three painted wooden stars above the welcome lettering. Finally, hot glue the ends of the nautical rope to the back of the sign!
