Spring Block Sign

I am absolutely OBSESSED with how incredible this spring block sign turned out! It’s obvious I designed this for spring, but it comes completely unfinished so you get to customize it to your own style!

My decor is a lot of neutral tones with a touch of navy. I’ve always just really loved navy (remember when I painted the wall in my bedroom navy and spilled paint all over my carpet??)!

I kept my spring block sign very simple with navy blocks and white letters, but you can use whatever colors, patterns, or prints you want to express your own personality and style!

How to make a Spring Block Sign

I started this kit like every one of my kits – by sanding each piece. When we cut these on our laser machines, it can leave a layer of residue that affects the finish on them.

Once each piece was sanded, I stained the letters with brown acrylic paint and a tiny bit of black. To do that, mix a bit of water and paint together and use a foam sponge or wet wipe to apply the mixture to each piece.

Use a clean wet wipe to remove any excess paint from each piece and allow them all to dry completely. I like to use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.

Next, I painted the letters with white paint and each of the block pieces with blue paint. Allow the paint to dry, then lightly distress each piece.

I then wiped each of the blue block pieces with a clean baby white to restore the deep blue color. Lastly, once all the pieces were dry, I starting gluing them together!

I hope you enjoyed this Spring Block Sign as much as I did and decide to make them for yourself! I would love to see how yours turns out!
