How to Make a Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Organizer

First, you’re going to use your Dollar Tree Tumbling Tower blocks to create the top for your DIY farmhouse organizer. Hot glue them together in wide strips of 6 blocks.

You’ll need two wide strips of 6 blocks and two thin strips of two blocks. Hot glue them together to cover the top of the Dollar Tree plastic organizer, alternating strips (wide, thin, wide, thin).

Next, stain your blocks brown. You’ll need brown paint (I used Dixie Belle coffee bean chalk paint originally, but you can use whichever brown paint you have on hand), water, and a wet wipe.

Spray the blocks with water, then use a wet wipe to spread the brown paint across the blocks. The water helps the wood absorb the paint pigment and gives it a stained finish rather than a painted look.

Next, you’re going to paint the storage drawers white. I used Dixie Belle Fluff chalk paint, but again, you can use whichever white paint you have on hand.

Use a dry, chippy paintbrush to apply the paint onto the Dollar Tree storage drawers. Keeping a light hand and dry brushing the paint will give the drawers an aged, distressed finish.

I stacked two of the Dollar Tree storage drawers on top of each other, so I had to paint each of them the same way. Once the paint is dry, hot glue the storage drawers together, and hot glue the stained blocks to the top of the drawers.

Stain your four peg people with the same technique and paint you used for the blocks. These are going to be the feet of the DIY organizer, so hot glue them to the bottom of the plastic drawers.

Cut four pieces of the adhesive corkboard to go inside each of the card catalog tags, and hot glue them together. Finally, hot glue the catalog tags to each of the drawers.
