Standing Easter Gnome

I made my standing Easter gnome on a Facebook LIVE video with my sister, Angela, and she made her own side by side with me!

It was so much fun seeing her be able to express her creativity, and I LOVE seeing how we were able to take the same standing gnome kit and come up with two different looks!

That’s the beauty of DIY’ing home decor. We get to make it match our own style and vision and don’t have to pick from things OTHER people have created and designed!

You get a completely unfinished, unpainted, unassembled kit from my shop and get to add your own personality and flair to it! Do whatever you want to it so that it matches your home decor and style!

My sister, Angela, painted the gnome with white lined ears and blue feet, and I painted the gnome with the pink and white striped egg!

We made this literally side by side during a LIVE video, and had so much showing our own personality and style through these standing Easter gnomes!

How to make a Standing Easter Gnome

I started this Standing Easter Gnome like every one of my kits – by sanding each piece. When we cut these on our laser machines, it can leave a layer of residue that affects the finish on them.

Once each piece was sanded, I stained them with brown acrylic paint and a tiny bit of black. To do that, mix a bit of water and paint together and use a foam sponge or wet wipe to apply the mixture to each piece.

Use a clean wet wipe to remove any excess paint from each piece and allow them all to dry completely. I like to use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.

For the rest of the project, it’s really as simple as picking your paint colors, paint each piece the color you want, let the paint dry, then assemble.

If you want to have an aged, grunge finish on your gnome, lightly sand each piece before you assmeble them together.

You can also mix a bit of black paint and water (think watercolor paint) and apply it around the edges of each piece.
