Decorative Interchangeable House Kit

If I had to pick between only making my own home decor or only buying store bought decor for the rest of my life, I would choose making my own 100%, and this Decorative Interchangeable House Kit is part of the reason why!

The best thing about this interchangeable house kit is the fact that it is INTERCHANGEABLE! You can swap out what you put in the pocket of this kit to match the seasons and holidays!

When I crafted this kit live on my Facebook page, I also decorated the welcome farm insert from my shop. Its a super rustic and simple insert that works in your decor year round!

Decorative Interchangeable House Kit

This Decorative Interchangeable House Kit is a blank, unfinished kit that I sell in my shop. I took the basic brown wood finish and transformed it into a piece of stunning home decor that blends into my style and aesthetic perfectly!

When a customer purchases the Decorative Interchangeable House Kit from my shop, they get to do the exact same thing with their own style, and I think that is the most amazing part of crafting!

How to make a Decorative Interchangeable House Kit

I started this kit like every one of my kits – by sanding each piece. When we cut these on our laser machines, it can leave a layer of residue that affects the finish on them.

Once each piece was sanded, I stained them with brown acrylic paint and a tiny bit of black. To do that, mix a bit of water and paint together and use a foam sponge or wet wipe to apply the mixture to each piece.

Use a clean wet wipe to remove any excess paint from each piece and allow them all to dry completely. I like to use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.

The beauty of these craft kits is that you can customize them completely to match your vision. While I painted the main part of the house white, you could paint yours blue, green, purple, red, rainbow, etc!

I painted the roof portions and window grids black. Once all the pieces were dried, I started assembling the kit! Use super glue to secure each piece together.

Time to decorate!

Allow time for the glue to dry, then you’re ready to decorate! The same night I crafted this interchangeable house kit, I also crafted a farmhouse welcome insert for it!

Just like the interchangeable house kit, I sanded and stained each piece before painting them. You can use any colors you want, but here’s how I did mine!

The insert sits right behind the little fence of the house, and it’s too stinking cute! There are tons of interchangeable kits and inserts in my shop, so you can swap them up for any holiday or season!
